Malaysia's east coast floods claimed 7 lives in Kelantan, Pahang and Johor state, local media reported on Monday.

More than 4,000 people were sent to relief centers, as forecasters warned of more monsoon rains across the country, The Star said.

The meteorological department warned that moderate rainfall in Kelantan and Pahang is expected to continue until Tuesday morning while moderate rainfall is expected to continue until Monday in Terengganu, another state of east coast. Moderate to heavy rainfall was expected in eastern state of Sabah until Wednesday, the department said.

All streams in Kelantan remained at dangerous levels, Kelantan drainage and irrigation department director Lim Chow Hock said. In Terengganu, several main rivers have risen above their alert levels.
