Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said on Tuesday that no matter how his country's political situation changes, the Sino-Pakistani friendship will remain steadfast.
Musharraf made the remarks when meeting with Chen Qiufa, vice minister of the Chinese Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
He said no matter which party is chosen to lead his country, Pakistan's friendly China policy will not change, neither will the Pakistani people's love for China and the good momentum of the all-around Sino-Pakistani cooperation.
The president vowed to protect the security of Chinese working in his country and expressed his appreciation for China's long-term help and support for Pakistan.
Chen also spoke highly of the around-the-clock Sino-Pakistani friendship and extensive bilateral cooperation.
He also appreciated Pakistan's consistent friendly policy toward China, saying developing Sino-Pakistan friendly cooperation is the set policy of the Chinese government.
China is willing to continue to work with Pakistan to boost their friendship and deepen cooperation, he added.
President Musharraff won his second-term presidency in the presidential election in October. The country's parliamentary elections are due to take place on Jan. 8, next year.
In the upcoming elections, a total of 2,252 candidates will compete for the 272 National Assembly seats in the 342-member parliament. The remaining seats will be filled by special woman deputies and representatives for minority people. Source:Xinhua
