Nepali Police said one more body has been found in Chisapani of Karnali, bringing the death toll to 17 after Tuesday's bridge collapse in Surkhet district in far-western Nepal, The Himalayan Times reported on Friday.

The Mehelkuna Area police office said 18 more missing are yet to come into contact.

Rescue workers have been searching for the missing in river. A team of the Nepal Army has been searching for the missing.

Over 300 people were estimated to have been on the bridge when the mishap occurred Tuesday afternoon. They were crossing the river to participate in a yearly fair on the other side of the river.

The heavily-crowded bridge, some 375 km west of capital Kathmandu, collapsed after a support pillar at one end collapsed under the weight.
