The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will address the media on the date of general elections at 5 p.m. (1200 GMT) Wednesday, an official said.

The ECP has been consulting with political parties to decide the final polling date, he said.

The late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto's party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), led by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, have voiced their opposition to the postponement of general elections.
