An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale shook Indonesia's Bengkulu province on Friday. There was no immediate reports of casualties and material damage.
The quake occurred at 2:29 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), said Arif, an official from the meteorology and geophysics agency (BMG). It was also felt by residents in Padang, West Sumatra province.
The earthquake's epicenter was located around 75 km northwest of Muko-Muko in the province, at 3.03 degrees southern latitude and 100.61 degrees eastern longitude with a depth of 10 km.
The tremble did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, BMG said on its website. Source:Xinhua
