Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki Friday offered condolences over the death of Chairperson of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto, saying the assassination was an attempt to destabilize the country and derail the ongoing democratic process.
Manoucher Mottaki visited the PPP central secretariat in Islamabad and expressed condolences with the party leaders, the news agency News Network International reported.
Bhutto was assassinated on Dec. 27 after she addressed an election rally in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
Manoucher Mottaki said that entire nation and the government of Iran would remember her as greater friend and well-wisher of their country.
He also conveyed his sentiments and condolence to Bhutto's husband Asif Ali Zardari in a telephone call.
Manoucher Mottaki arrived here earlier Friday for a day-long visit to Pakistan. He met his Pakistani counterpart and is expected to meet with President Pervez Musharraf and caretaker Prime Minister Mohammad Mian Soomro later Friday. Source:Xinhua
