Five Bangladeshis, trafficked to India last year, were handed over to Bangladesh paramilitary forces Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Friday.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the five Bangladeshis to BDR who later gave to the custody of a representative of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) at noon.
An organized gang trafficked the five Bangladeshis through Benapole border in the first part of last year with the false assurance of providing them jobs in India, private news agency UNB reported.
They were arrested by Kolkata police and sent to jail. Later, a local NGO, Prajak, rescued them and kept them at a shelter home.
The return of the five victims was facilitated following correspondences between the Kolkata-based NGO, Prajak, and BNWLA. Source: Xinhua
