A soldier of the NATO-led International security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed and fiveothers sustained injures when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in south Afghanistan, a statement of the alliance released here Monday said.
"One ISAF soldier was killed and five soldiers were injured when their vehicles were involved in an explosion during a patrol in southern Afghanistan January 20," the statement said.
It also added that the soldiers' injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
However, it did not disclose the exact place of the incident and the victims' casualties by adding, "In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualties' nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so."
Southern Afghanistan includes Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan and Zabul provinces where hundreds of Taliban fighters have been fighting NATO and Afghan troops for the past four years.
