At least six blasts took place nearby a mass gathering organized by the Nepali Congress on Sunday in south
In Rajbiraj of Saptari district, some 190 km south of capital Kathmandu, the bombs went off at a temple, some 70 meters south of the venue of the mass meeting organized by the largest Nepali party in the Interim Parliament Nepali Congress (NC), local leading media group's website nepalnews.com reported.
One policeman was injured in one of the blasts.
Reports quoting eyewitnesses said the explosions were targeted at the police. At least three people suspected of involved in the blasts have been arrested.
Despite the blasts, the mass meeting continued. NC leader and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba addressed the program.
On Saturday, an armed outfit called Madhesi Mukti Tigers (MMT) had detonated a bomb in Inaruwa, Sunsari district, some 220 km south of Kathmandu, when Deuba was attending a mass meeting organized by NC.
MMT is an armed group active in some eastern districts of southern Nepal's Terai plains, involved in many cases of killing local government officials, political party members and civilians, in the name of fighting for Madhesi people's rights.
