Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao said on Monday that the condition of President Jose Ramos-Horta, who was shot and wounded in the stomach in a predawn attack on his home in Dili by rebel gunmen, was "stable".
At a press conference, Gusmao said Ramos-Horta will be flown to Darwin of Australia to get further treatment when his situation is allowed.
Ramos-Horta was sent to local Australian military hospital for treatment after the attack.
The home of Gusmao was reportedly also under fire on Monday in separate attacks, but he survived the attacks.
Timor-Leste was prompted to the highest alert status by U.N.-administered police after the attacks.
