The New Zealand Defense Force (NZDF) will be joining with the Australian and French defense forces in training exercises next week.
Exercise Sea Lion, running for 11 days from next Monday, will see troops from the three countries on the multi-purpose ship HMNZS Canterbury carrying out amphibious sea training and flight exercises, the New Zealand Press Association reported Monday.
Maritime Component Commander Commodore Tony Parr said the opportunity for the crew of the Canterbury to work with their Australian and French counterparts would be hugely beneficial.
"Undertaking exercises such as this means that our crew will be able to grow their own skills with practical experience, as well as learning from their peers and our exercise partners," he said.
The Canterbury will sail for Townsville on Monday, accompanied by HMNZS Te Mana, which is heading to Australia for an intensive training period with the Royal Australian Navy. Source: Xinhua
