Singapore "is shocked and appalled" at the attempted assassination of Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, said Singapore's Foreign Ministry on Monday.
Gunmen shot and seriously wounded Ramos-Horta in an early-morning attack on his residence. The president has reportedly undergone emergency surgery in Dili and is now in a stable condition.
"Singapore is shocked and appalled at the shooting of President Ramos-Horta at his residence," said the Foreign Ministry's spokesman in a statement.
