Timor-Leste's parliament on Wednesday decided to extend by 10 days a state of emergency in the country.

The government of Timor Leste on Tuesday declared a 48-hour state of emergency after the assassination attempts on the country's president and prime minister.

Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao Wednesday asked parliament to extend the emergency rule. Lawmakers agreed, with 30 votes in favor and 14 abstaining.
