According to the latest statistics from the Association of Confucius Genealogy Continuation, the fifth version of "Confucius Genealogy" is now being written; and is expected to codify more than 2 million descendants from the Kong lineage, including 30,000 from South Korea.
The Association of Confucius Genealogy Continuation found historical records revealing that descendants in South Korea immigrated from the east to the Korean Peninsula during the Yuan Dynasty. South Korea now has more than 80,000 descendants of Confucius. Among them, 30,000 are recorded in the fifth version of "Confucius Genealogy," making South Korea the country with the largest number of descendants of Confucius outside China, in the current spectrum. In addition to South Korea, this version of "Confucius Genealogy" enumerated the descendants of Confucius in the United States, Australia, Switzerland, Singapore, and Malaysia; but the numbers are nowhere near those in South Korea.
