A government building at central part of Seoul caught fire briefly early Thursday, damaging at least two rooms but leaving no casualties, according to police.

The fire erupted at about 00:32 a.m. local time (1532 GMT Wednesday) in rooms on the 5th floor and was put out about 32 minutes later, police said.

Government employees were safely evacuated after the fire erupted and there have been no casualties reported so far, said police, adding that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Some 130 firefighters and 52 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene after receiving fire alarm. All electricity was cut off to prevent flame from catching again.

Investigators said some furniture and documents were burned and walls scorched. They said the fire alarm sounded but the sprinklers did not activate during the fire.
