Pakistani security forces have arrested an Al-Qaeda linked suspect in connection with an assassination attempt on former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in the southern port city of Karachi last October, local TV channel Geo reported on Tuesday.
Named Qari Saifullah Akhtar, the suspect was arrested on Monday in Lahore, capital city of the eastern Punjab province, said the report.
The suspect is reported to be connected with a suicide bombing attack which occurred during a parade led by Bhutto on Oct. 19 last year.
Consequently, around 150 people were killed and hundreds of others who attended the procession to welcome Bhutto's return suffered injuries. Bhutto escaped the attack unhurt.
