Afghan police on Saturday killed one Taliban insurgent and arrested five others including a group commander, Afghanistan Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Taliban commander Ghulam alias Shishak along with four other rebels were captured on Saturday morning from Jejrab district of Kapisa province, 80 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, the statement said.

It added that there were no casualties on the police side.

Ghulam was involved in anti-government activities in Jejrab and surrounding areas, according to the ministry.

Taliban militants fighting the Afghan government and international troops based in Afghanistan have yet to make comment.
