A soldier of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) died of wounds received in Afghanistan's southern restive region, said a press release of the alliance issued here Monday.
"An ISAF soldier died Sunday from injuries sustained in an explosion during a patrol in southern Afghanistan," the press release added.
However, it did not say when and in which province the soldier faced the fatal incident.
It also did not disclose the nationality of the deceased, adding that in accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualty's nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
More than 20 foreign troops have been killed so far this year, according to the figures from ISAF and the U.S.-led Coalition forces.
Conflicts and Taliban-related insurgency had left more than 6,000 people dead in 2007, while observers predict more militants attack in 2008 in the post-Taliban Afghanistan. Source:Xinhua
