British Foreign Secretary David Miliband will soon visit Pakistan to discuss ways of restoring Pakistan's Commonwealth membership, local media reported on Wednesday.

British Prime Minister Gordon made a call to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday and invited Pakistan back to the Commonwealth, according to Pakistan's daily Dawn.

This is the first direct contact between the two leaders after the Feb. 18 general elections.

The British prime minister will soon send David Miliband to Pakistan to discuss ways of restoring the Commonwealth membership and other issues like regional security, said a statement issued by foreign office.

The Commonwealth suspended Pakistan's membership on Nov. 23 last year after President Musharraf refused to lift the state of emergency by a date set by the organization.
