A passenger jet with 171 people onboard skidded off runway during a landing on Indonesia's Riau island Monday, causing no serious injuries.
The Boeing 737-400 owned by budget carrier Adam Air attempted to land amid heavy pour at the Hang Nadim Airport on the island and skidded off the slippery runway, Jakarta-based Metro TV reported.
Pilots have aborted the first landing attempt and forced the plane to be airborne again and rounded the airport several times before it finally landed, the television quoted a passenger as saying.
"All passengers are safe. They have been evacuated," Adam Air president director Aditya Suherman told leading news website Detikcom.
