An earthquake with magnitude of 5.2 rocked eastern parts of Indonesia on Tuesday morning, but there were no reports of damage or casualties, the Indonesian meteorology agency said.
The quake jolted at 6:49 Jakarta time (2349 GMT Monday) with epicenter at 364 kilometers northeast Bitung town of North Sulawesin province and at 163 kilometers in depth, an official of the agency said.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where continental plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
The archipelagic nation was hardest hit by the earthquake-triggered Asian tsunami in December 2004 which killed an estimated168,000 people in Aceh province.
