A Joint Election Operation Center run by the Nepali Election Commission (EC) and the Home administration is being set up in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, within next few days to coordinate and monitor election-related activities across the country.
According to Wednesday's The Himalayan Times daily, the center equipped with every type of communication devices will operate around the clock, seven days a week, to intervene in all kinds of logistical and security needs related to the April 10 Constituent Assembly election process, the EC said.
Establishment of the center at the Commission Office in the capital has reached the final stage and is due to be completed within the next four or five days, according to the EC.
Works on electricity and Internet cables and hubs are underway in the freshly painted room on the second floor of the EC building where the center is being set up, it added.
The center to be coordinated by an operation manager will comprise officials from the Home Ministry, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, except the Nepal Army, according to the EC.
A joint secretary at the EC is due to be appointed as the operation manager, the EC said, adding that the number of staff at the center is yet to be finalized.
