A leader of the Taliban-associated Haqqani network has claimed responsibility for the March 3 suicide bombing attack in eastern Afghanistan's Khost province which killed two NATO soldiers and two Afghan workers, the U.S.-led Coalition forces said Wednesday.
"Siraj Haqqani, the leader of the Haqqani Network, took responsibility for the attack wounding dozens of Afghan civilians and promised more suicide bombings" in Khost province, it said in a statement.
A suicide car bombing blast occurred near Sabari district center, a government building, on March 3, which was being jointly-guarded by Afghan and NATO soldiers, according to officials.
"Haqqani said to reporters the truck that damaged an ISAF security outpost at the district center was loaded with explosives, drums of petrol, gas cylinders and mines," the Coalition statement said.
"The Coalition condemns any attacks targeting innocent Afghan civilians and we are saddened by the pain these types of acts cause the people of Afghanistan," an official was quoted in the statement as saying.
