Japan will host a dialogue for Iraqi leaders from both the Shiite and Sunni sects from March 20, according to the Japanese Foreign Ministry Friday.

Thirteen Iraqi leaders, including parliamentarians and prominent figures, are expected to attend the 9-day meeting aimed at promoting peace and stability in the country.

Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura said the Iraqi participants are to meet with Japanese high-level officials and will be invited to visit Hiroshima, a prosperous city built on total devastation in World War II.

Japan hosted the first such dialogue for 15 Iraqi leaders last year.
