Philippine police said Saturday they will provide assistance to travelers at high ways, seaports and airports during the Easter holiday next week.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) will run assistance centers from March 18 to 25, said PNP spokesperson Senior Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome.
"This is to ensure that all motorists and vacationers will be safe during their travel to their respective provinces," Bartolome said.
The PNP's public assistance centers are also supported by the local government units, non-government organizations, volunteer organizations and radio communication groups, while ambulances will stand by in case of accidents or emergencies.
Filipinos travel to their hometowns to visit relatives or friends during public holidays such as Easter, which is locally called Holy Week and is one of the most important Roman Catholic holidays with All Saints' Day, and Christmas.
