Four people, including a woman, have been killed and 53 others injured in a powerful blast in India's northeast state Assam, the Press Trust of India reported Sunday.
The explosion was triggered by the banned militant group the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on Saturday night when 15,000 tribal community people gathered at an open field to celebrate a function, the police said.
The militants might have targeted the on-duty Assam Police Battalion personnel as four of them were seriously injured in the attack. And a massive manhunt is underway to nab the attackers, said the police.
The local government has offered compensation to the families of those killed and injured.
