An earthquake centered 70 km north of Picton shook central parts of New Zealand late Sunday, causing no damage or casualties, GNS Science said.
The quake, at a depth of 100 km, registered 4.6 on the Richter scale. It was felt in the top of the South Island and the bottom of the North Island.
The quake occurred at 11:20 pm local time Sunday (1020 GMT Sunday).
The GNS science website, GeoNet, recorded that 125 households had felt and reported the quake overnight.
