Pakistan will host the second meeting of focal persons on counter terrorism of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) next week in Islamabad, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Javed Iqbal Cheema, spokesman of Pakistan's Interior Ministry, told the weekly press briefing here Tuesday that the representatives from eight members of the regional organization would attend the meeting.
Cheema said the meeting on counter terrorism would focus on finding ways and means to enhance cooperation in the field of counter terrorism.
He said that greater cooperation, particularly among the countries of the region, was imperative in the fight against the global evil.
The meeting will be held alongside the meeting of police chiefs of SAARC countries from March 25 to 27, he said.
SAARC consists of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
