Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday urged the nation to join hands in eliminating the scourge of extremism and terrorism.
Speaking to the participants of National Defense Course and Armed Services War Course at the National Defense University here, Musharraf said the key to the country's future and way forward was sustained economic growth and control of extremism.
Talking about national security, Musharraf said Pakistan's Minimum Deterrence Strategy was a must for peace and Pakistan must never compromise on the nuclear program. He said it was the weakness which invited aggression.
Peace can only be ensured from a position of strength, Musharraf said, adding that it was the economic stability and its upsurge that needed to be maintained for any kind of influence on security and other issues of national importance.
