About 32,000 Nepali jobseekers applied to the Korean Language Test (KLT), a first step in the process of getting jobs in South Korea under employment permit system (EPS), the Himalayan Times daily reported on Thursday.
The exam is scheduled for March 29 in Kathmandu.
According to the daily, The EPS unit at Department of Labor and Employment Promotion (DoLEP) and the Human Resource Department (HRD) of S Korea are jointly arranging the test, which is being conducted by the Tribhuvan University through 30 different centers simultaneously in the country.
The applicants will have to appear for written as well as listening and reading test for KLT.
A S Korean HRD team is already in the capital to conduct the exam and the results will be announced later through public media in Nepal.
The DoLEP has already notified that the names of the exam centers will be announced on March 27.
In recent days, destination S Korea for jobs is considered to be among the most preferred for Nepali jobseekers because of better earnings and cheaper initial cost to get job under EPS.
Nepal and S Korea had signed a memorandum of understanding in July last year. The agreement has set proficiency of the Korean language as a major condition of eligibility for employment in S Korea.
