Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf Thursday summoned the National Assembly session for the election of Prime Minister on March 24, presidential spokesman Rashid Qureshi said.
In a statement quoted by local TV channel DAWN NEWS, Qureshi said that the National Assembly session would be convened next Monday for the election of Prime Minister.
The Pakistan People's Party, which has the largest number of National Assembly seats, has still not announced its candidate for Prime Minister yet.
With the support of its coalition partners including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), PPP can easily get its PM candidate elected as Prime Minister at the National Assembly session.
PPP General Secretary Jahangir Badar said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in his capacity as party chairman would give the final approval of PM candidate, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
Badar said PPP's premiership candidate would be finalized before the next National Assembly session.
