Afghan army backed by NATO troops have killed dozens of suspected insurgents in Afghanistan's southern Uruzgan province, a press release of the Afghan Defense Ministry said Sunday.
"In the operation dubbed Patanghar (Pashtun Mountain) backed by airpower and launched Saturday on west of Deh Rawad district dozens of insurgents have been killed and several others got wounded," the press release added.
However, it did not say the exact figure of casualties.
Taliban militants have yet to make comment.
It also noted that a notorious terrorist Mullah Hashim is also among the dead bodies.
A large number of weapons including rocket-propelled grenades have also been sized by the troops, it further stressed.
Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have left more than 250 people dead so far this year in war-torn Afghanistan, where anti-government militants have vowed to intensify their guerrilla-style attacks. Source: Xinhua
