The trio convicted bombers in Indonesia's resort island of Bali are facing imminent execution after their lawyers Monday withdrew the case review that became their last effort to appeal.

"We withdrew the (judicial review) request because our demand to present the defendants in the court was rejected," lawyer Fachmi Bachmid was quoted by leading news website Detikcom during a court hearing in the Bali capital of Denpasar.

The bombers -- Imam Samudera, Amrozi and his older brother Ali Ghufron -- have been convicted by the Denpasar District Court of plotting and carrying out the October 2002 bombings at two nightclubs that killed 202 people on the island and were sentenced to death.

Presiding judge Ida Bagus Putu Madeg said the withdrawal brought an abrupt end to the case review, which was the second filed by the lawyers.

"The legal proceedings cannot continue because (the lawyer team)has withdrawn from the case without objections from the prosecutors. It is over now, and no more court hearings," he said.

Their appeal attempts have since been rejected by the higher courts.
