The Nepali government has devised an election security plan by dividing the nation into six regions, local newspaper The Rising Nepal reported Tuesday.
In accordance with the election security policy and plan, the government will deploy security forces equipped with helicopters in Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Simara and Biratnagar, besides capital Kathmandu, according to the Home Ministry.
The deployed security forces under election security plan will provide security to the election constituencies of the respective region and help transport necessary electoral materials.
The security forces would be deployed a week before the voting day scheduled on April 10, spokesperson of the Home Ministry Modraj Dotel said on Monday.
A security team comprising three to 17 police personnel will be deployed in each electoral booth across the nation, he said, adding that mobile teams of Nepal police with two to 11 policemen will also be mobilized in every electoral constituency.
The security teams will be able to communicate the security situation of one place with another group in another place, so that the untoward incidents in any electoral booth can be controlled in time, he added.
The government has established a base camp of Armed Police Force (APF) in all 240 constituencies of 75 districts which has been providing security to the respective constituencies, Dotel said.
Meanwhile, the government has started deploying one to three security personnel for the security of one candidate.
