At least 14 people were killed in a road accident in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province on Wednesday, state-run television reported.

PTV reported that the accident happened on a road between Peshawar, the provincial capital and Kohat, a major city in the region, when a passenger coach rammed into a truck.

As a result, 14 people onboard the coach including children and women were killed and some others injured.

Those injured were taken to a hospital in Peshawar for treatment. The coach was badly destroyed in the accident.

Police said high speed might have played a role in the accident.
