Indonesian prosecutors on Wednesday recommended a life sentence for suspected militant Abu Dujana, who faces multiple charges including illegal arms possessions and terror plots.
Prosecutors in the South Jakarta District Court alleged Dujana, whose real name is Ainul Bahri, of being a key member of terror group Jemaah Islamiyah.
"We demanded that the judge panel sentence the defendant to life imprisonment," one of the prosecutors said when reading the indictment.
They also told the judges to declare Jemaah Islamiyah an illegal organization that should be barred.
Prosecutors said earlier Dujana had assisted other top militants in a series of major bombings in the country, including the October 2003 suicide car bombing at Marriott Hotel and the September 2004 car bombing at the Australian Embassy here.
Both attacks claimed more than 20 lives.
The alleged mastermind of the two bombings, Malaysian national Noordin Moh Top, is still at large. Dujana, who was arrested last July, is also accused of supplying Noordin with arms and explosives and providing him a shelter while on the run. Source:Xinhua
