An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale hit the seas west of northern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 1:30 am Sunday (Beijing Time), according to Chinese Seismological Network.
The epicenter was located at 3 degrees north latitude and 95.3 degrees east longitude.
