A 5.2-magnitude earthquake shook Batanes islands off the northern tip of the Philippines Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the ground movement was recorded 100 kilometers west of Basco city of Batanes. The quake was tectonic in origin and has a depth of nine kilometers.
No damages have been reported so far. State volcanologists said aftershocks are neither expected.
