Three South Korean warships sailed deep into the territorial waters of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Thursday, a press release of the country's Navy Command claimed.
Three South Korean warships entered "the territorial waters of the north side southeast of Ssanggyo-ri, Kangryong County, South Hwanghae Province," the press release said.
It warned that the DPRK would take unpredictable countermeasures against them, if South Korea kept infiltrating the waters.
The navies of the two Koreas clashed in 1999 and 2002 around the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the Yellow Sea, resulting in heavy casualties on both sides. The NLL was not clearly demarcated when the Korean War ended in 1953.
