Leader of Chondoists of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) called Saturday for independent and peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, the official news agency KCNA reported.
The international atmosphere was favorable for peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula, said Kang Chol Won, vice-chairman of the Korean Chondoist Church Central Guidance Committee, at a ceremony held in Pyongyang commemorating the 148thanniversary of Chondoism.
He called on all Chondoists and people in the DPRK and South Korea to defend and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the Oct. 4 declaration, which were signed by the two countries' leaders in 2000 and 2007, respectively.
Chondoism was founded in the latter half of the 19th century, promoting the ideas of "opposing the Westerners and Japanese," "striving for national interests and people's welfare," "achieving the broad salvation of people" and "building a paradise on earth." Source: Xinhua
