Taliban insurgents' attack on a U.S. military base-bound local logistic convoy left four persons dead in Afghanistan's southern Ghazni province on Sunday, a local official said.
"It was 1:30 p.m. local time (0700 GMT) when Taliban insurgents targeted a logistic convoy in Andar district of Ghazni province, killing two of local guards, and two insurgents were shot dead in the clash," Abdul Rahim Disiwal, the governor of Ander told Xinhua.
Five more guards of the logistic convoy were injured in firefight, he added.
The convoy was on its way to Paktia province when it came underattack, he said.
Meantime, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, who claims to speak for Taliban insurgents, accepted responsibility, saying Taliban fighters targeted the convey and inflicted huge damage to it. He also said that two Taliban fighters were killed in fire exchange, which lasted for a while.
Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have left more than 320 people dead so far this year in war-torn Afghanistan, where Taliban militants recently have vowed to launch the "Spring offensive" to intensify their guerrilla-style attacks on national army and foreign troops. Source:Xinhua
