Wind and solar power are the most popular energy sources to take New Zealand into the next decade, showed a survey released on Tuesday.
The poll was carried out for the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Of the 3,546 respondents, 77 percent prefer wind as the best energy source in the next decade, 69 percent like solar energy, 47percent prefer geothermal power, 40 percent, wave power, and 35 percent, small and large-scale hydro power.
Nuclear power attracted 19 percent support.
The survey also revealed 70 percent of respondents think New Zealand is not doing enough to encourage renewable energy projects. Source:Xinhua
