The premier of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Yong Il, said Tuesday that the situation on the Korean peninsula remained tense and unstable due to the U.S. hostile policy against the DPRK, the official news agency KCNA reported.
Kim Yong Il gave a report on the conference held on Tuesday celebrating the 15th anniversary of top leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defense Commission (NDC) of the DPRK.
U.S. forces incessantly increased military forces on the peninsula and undertook large-scale military exercises with South Korea against the DPRK, while Japan is taking the chance to crack down on Koreans living in Japan, Kim said.
"The army and people of the DPRK are closely following the moves of the U.S. and its followers to stifle the DPRK," he said, adding that the DPRK would fight back against any infringement upon the dignity and interests of the country.
