Data from the website of Election Commission (EC) of Nepal at Monday noon showed that the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) has bagged half seats of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election through direct elections.
The updated data showed that CPN-M has won 120 seats out of the total 240, while Nepali Congress (NC) has won 37, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) won 32 and Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) got 29.
Election Commission (EC) of Nepal on Sunday said the final result of the CA elections is expected to be out on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference, EC Spokesperson Laxman Bhattarai said the final result of the election would arrive by Monday and the result under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system would probably come by Tuesday.
"Thereafter, the EC would take two to three days to calculate the votes received by each political party and allocate 335 seats for all eligible political parties on the basis of their vote weight and inform them in this regard," he added.
According to the agreement reached among Nepali political parties, 240 CA members will be elected through the first-past-the-post and 335 CA members from the proportional representational electoral system while another 26 CA members would be nominated in the 601-member Constituent Assembly.
The Constituent Assembly to be formed after the elections started on April 10, is to decide the future political setup and the fate of the monarchy of Nepal.
