Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Sunday urged the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to focus on poverty alleviation and infrastructure development.
At a meeting with SAARC General Secretary Shree Kanta Sharma in the premier's official residence, Koirala discussed with the guest the expansion of south Asian assistance, Koirala's advisor for foreign affairs Aditya Baral said.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Nepal's commitment to extending all kinds of support to the SAARC countries,
During the meeting, Sharma also handed over an invitation of upcoming SAARC conference to be held on August at Colombo in Sri lanka.
Founded in 1985, the SAARC includes Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Source:Xinhua
