An earthquake with magnitude of 6.1 rocked eastern parts of Indonesia on Wednesday morning, the meteorology agency said here.
The quake struck at 02:10 Jakarta time (1910GMT) with the epicenter at 306 kilometers southwest Ambon, the capital of Maluku province and at 406 kilometers under sea bed, an official of the agency Adam Malik told Xinhua.
Indonesia is laid at a vulnerable zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire" where two continental plates meet that cause frequent volcanic movements.
