Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Thursday greeted and extended best wishes to all laborers on the occasion of the historic day of May 1.

In a message on the occasion of May Day, the Prime Minister stated, "Today, our country is entering a new era and the people have given their verdict in support of consensus, collaboration and unity. Now we have to focus our attention in the tasks ahead as per this verdict of the people."

Recalling that his political career started from the trade union movement, he said a country moves forward with the zeal, expertise and capability of the working class people of that country and that the laborers are the catalysts for nation building.

"The labor class should move forward with strong commitment that they will lift the country up by becoming conscious of and sensitive towards the problem of poverty, want, unemployment etc. the country is facing," Koirala said.

He has also expressed best wishes that may this inspirational May Day promote mutual unity, goodwill and encouragement among all the laborers.
