Four men implicated with the life attempt on Timor Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta were deported from Indonesia Monday morning under a tight escort by the anti-terror unit.

Dressed in orange prisoner's uniform, the four suspects departed from the Halim Perdanakusumah Airport in East Jakarta on a Fokker-100 plane reportedly carrying 27 people at 08:05 local time (01:05 GMT), reported Metro TV.

After about one-hour flight, the rebel soldiers arrived at the Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali and were handed over to Timor Leste's Prosecutor General Longuinos Monteiro before continuing the trip to Dili, the capital of Timor Leste.

They are the former soldiers in Timor Leste who fled the country after the February 11 coordinated attacks on Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao.

They are identified as Jose Gomez, 28; Edigio Lay Kalfayo, 26; Ismael Sansao Monis Soares, 26 and Tito Tilman, 25.

Indonesian Police Chief Sutanto said the four were previously detained for minor charges of immigration offences, entering Indonesia without proper documents.

They were deported at the request of the Timor Leste government.
