Four children were killed on Monday morning in Afghan capital Kabul in an accidental blast, according to witnesses and officials.
The blast occurred at a residential area on a hilly slope in western Kabul and the interior ministry said an old artillery shell the kids were playing with exploded.
A Xinhua reporter on the spot saw shattered body parts and a partially-damaged house.
Dozens of Afghans are killed or injured each month in accidental blasts of ordnance left over from decades-long war in the country.
