A suicide bomber on Tuesday tried to attack a security check post in northwestern Pakistan, killing three people and injuring five others, local TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.
A man in a cycle rickshaw tried to enter the check post in Bannu city in North West Frontier Province before being stopped by the police. The suspect blew himself near the post, killing himself and two other policemen, said the report.
Five people sustained injuries in the attack and were taken to a military hospital for treatment in Bannu.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces cordoned off the area after the blast.
Attacks on security forces are carried out again after the Pakistani Taliban ended peace talks with the government. It is the second attack on security forces in the northwest in two days following the end of peace talks and ceasefire by the Taliban.
A soldier was injured when Taliban militants attacked an army patrolling team in South Waziristan tribal region on Monday.
